What I’ve Been Up To Lately: Comics Galore

I’ve been involved in quite a few comics related events lately.

29th of January: Panel Discussion on Comics

I organised an event at Ad Fontes, a student pub here in Bergen, where we discussed comics’ relation to other media and institutions.

7th of March: A Talk During Critical Thinking Day at The University of Bergen

My talk was called: “Å skrive med bilder: tegneseriemediets egenart og posisjon”. Put simpler: I talked about how the medium of comics has been viewed and treated by the academic community in general throughout history.

13th and 14th of April: Comics Course at Åsane kultursenter

15th of April: Panel Discussion

Comics Courses at “Alfa & Omega”

I’m a guest at “Alfa & Omega“, a new literary festival for children. I’ll talk about comics and the language of comics. Kim Holm, who recently published an excellent comics adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s “Pickman’s Model”, and young comics talent Ida Margrethe Neverdahl, whose name was dropped by none other than Scott McCloud, will also be there.

Drawing Tips From Carson Van Osten

I’ve posted some of former Disney artist Carson Van Osten’s drawing tips before, but now there’s more of them up at Temple of the Seven Camels. Oh, and you’ll find some tips from Wally Wood and Alex Toth too.
